Twelve miles. We are are at the tail end of a quite long day. It was both a travel day and a walk around day. We woke in Stow-On-The-Wold and drove to Oxford University before we had breakfast. Brian found a cute spot to eat before we wandered the campus.
The University of Oxford is the oldest English speaking university in the world. It’s a very beautiful school and I can’t imagine what it would be like to go to school there. Today must have been a visit day because there were prospective students and parents everywhere. We fit right in! We got scooped up a couple times to join the tours, but decided not to.
Now the race was on to get the car returned in London by 12:30. We were a bit behind schedule and little did we know what kind of traffic we had ahead of us! Brian maneuvered his way through it while looking for a gas station to top off the tank before the return. I bet you can’t guess what happened next. If you said that the gas station was out of fuel, you’re correct. The only one we had passed. The only one we saw. So, we returned the car late with a not-full tank. After the hassle, who cares! They waved the late fee which was great. After, we hopped into an Uber and headed to our hotel. It’s expensive staying in the city! Especially after 3 weeks of travel. This hotel is small and older. It’s clean and close to the train, so it works great. It resembles a dorm room and as I type, my husband’s feet are hanging off the end of the bed and my almost 20 year old claimed top bunk.
After we checked in and squeezed ourselves into the corners, we headed out for lunch and some more walking. This is the portion of the day where we packed on the miles. One young person in our group has plantar fasciitis and the other one just really isn’t a fan of the Godsill style of traveling anymore. Where I feel for Fiona’s poor feet, I also feel for the three of us who are traveling with my other one who is like Eyore. And I say that in the most loving way.
Watching tennis at Wimbledon
Harry Potter store in Kings Cross. The line was too long for a photo at Platform 9 3/4.

The only way to snap, this girl out of a tailspin is to stop and take a break. We got her a juice and while we drank our drinks and helped her calm, she came back to life while looking at pictures of our cats. Juice and cats. Works every time.
We found this duck on Isle of Skye. If you zoom in you will see that it is traveling around in honor of a mum with cancer. We will be taking it back to Kauai and posting it to their page and then looking for someone to keep it traveling. Their Facebook page is very touching.
Fiona and I cried twice today. First when we saw a couple saying a long, teary goodbye at the train station. The second cry came after the most beautiful bride ever walked by. She was in a modest gown with a hijab and the entire dress was beaded and covered with pearls. Her groom was beaming with pride as he led her down the steps to a riverside photo shoot. Even the tourists were photographing her. It was really such a beautiful moment to walk by.
We took the bus home after a long Godsill roam about. We sat on the upper deck of the bus and did a little more city viewing while resting our feet. At one point we passed a Co op market with caution tape, an ambulance, and a bloody sidewalk. Glad we rode the bus by rather than walked. Gearing up for some Notting Hill tomorrow.
