We tried to get an early-ish start yesterday. We hopped out of bed and onto a train headed for Time Square. First stop was Grand Central Station. Oh my word it was crazy trying to get on the train. Every inch of train was full of person. I had to suck everything in just to get my backpack to clear the door of the train so it would shut. Everyone headed to work.
We stopped for breakfast at Zucker's which just happened to be at a super crazy rush moment so it was a little overwhelming. I'm finding that often here in the city. There is not stop and decide. It's like in Seinfeld. Step up to the counter, order your soup, and hand over your money...or...no soup for you.
From breakfast we headed over to Bryant Park and enjoyed quite a brisk walk. Poor Fiona wore a skirt thinking it would be warm like the previous days. Nope. Rain and Brrrrr. We walked around for a bit waiting for the crowd at the New York Public Library to settle a bit before we ventured inside.
It was beautiful! I remembered the scenes from Seven and the Sex And the City wedding scene. It was amazing to go inside and think about what the library looks like where I live. Completely different worlds. The girls really wanted to see the original Winnie the Pooh doll and of course Mack found Clifford and had to hug and hug.
After the library, it was shopping time. Time to head to Soho. Fiona had a mental list of things she really wanted to find in NY. Sadly we couldn't find too much of what she had hoped to find. We tried to go to Muji across from the library and of course it was closed for inventory. It took 3 other locations to find one open. Brian persevered and found one just before we headed back to our neck of the woods. I loved it in there! They have such a great philosophy for their business and I was easily sold on their offerings. Fiona stocked up on grid paper and pens. She is a total geek when it comes to modern/simple stationery.
After our shopping adventure, we headed back to our hotel for an hour before once again heading out for the night. This time we were headed to see Wicked!!! The girls were really excited. We grabbed some dinner and headed back to Time Square. It was a bit overwhelming as usual. The show was completely amazing. Mack liked it so much that she slept through Act 2. It was an expensive nap I must say. At least she woke to see the end. We followed the show with a late night goodie at the wildly lit "Juniors". It was all kinds of fun in there. Loud, bright, and late! All the things that make Mack super fun to be around. We stuffed her with a sprinkled cupcake, stuffed ourselves with chocolate and cheesecake, and headed back into the night to find our beds.

They wanted $10.99 for this picture. They all just ran up and posed with the girls. Brian said no-way and handed them a dollar. |
Our awesome night last night was our last in NYC. We loaded a rental car early this morning and drove to Massachusetts. We caught the ferry in Woods Hole which looked like an episode of Gilmore Girls and headed over to Martha's Vineyard. I must say, it was nice to be in the city and really nice to be back in the quiet. I have grown accustomed to a more laid back life! Unfortunately a big storm is following us. Our dreams of bike rides around the island have been dampened. Tomorrow should be quite blustery. I'll let you know how tomorrow goes...
For now, just enjoy the pictures of how completely adorable it is here...
See you tomorrow. That is if we don't blow away.
