We hung around here today. Had a sleep-in kind of day after a crazy night-time rainstorm. We had big wind, big rain, and many other noises one might expect in a tree house. I woke to a gecko laughing on our wall. It felt like home.
The wind really messed up the surf this morning so we had a late breakfast and found a place on the beach to relax and enjoy the warm water a bit. Mack is really afraid of the water here so getting her in was a bit of a chore. She managed a few minutes and then was scared. The waves are small and not scary but then again, I am not as close to the ground as she is. Maybe when you're shorter it's scarier. She is also afraid of the animals that might be swimming in the sea. We tried to tell her that the straws and paper floating are the only strange animals. The girls opted for writing messages in the sand. Fiona wrote some really adorable things. I saw other people photographing the sandy notes while they walked by. Fi loved that.
It started to rain again and the beach cleared itself very quickly. It was the perfect time for lunch. We had lunch at a place called, Outdoor Restaurant. I loved the name. We are really enjoying the translations and butchering of the English language. Reading a menu is a new form of entertainment. Garlic bread will never be the same after we saw it called "Garlie bread".
The last part of the day was a surf mission. Fiona was really excited about getting in the water with her dad. They rented a couple boards and headed out. The waves were different, the board was different, and she got overwhelmed quickly. Tomorrow Brian is going to try a different approach to help her feel more comfortable.
The dusky part of our day was spent in the pool with Ralphie the cat in tow. He has decided that if he follows us, we might feed him (we don't). He brought along his siblings tonight. We have Ralphie, Schmoopie, and Third Cat now. The kids are digging the cats.

Somehow, Ralphie always ends up inside. |
