I woke today to Brian asking me if I wanted to go out and see the sunrise one more time. Uh, no. But…I went though. In my pajamas with a sweater over the top. You don’t see too much bedhead or many pajamas on the streets on Martha’s Vineyard.
The girls slept in and were hard to get motivated. Our ferry back to Woods Hole was at 10:45. We needed to get them motivated, packed, and fed before then. We had some breakfast at Linda Jeans and did one more lap of the harbor.
The ferry isn’t a very exciting ride, but the weather was nice. It was a pretty easy transition back to the car and back into crazy city driving.
Our first stop when we got to Boston was Boston College. What a beautiful campus. It’s almost surreal to be looking at colleges with Fiona. I see young people walking around campus and I picture it being her. I have big mom-anxiety about her going to school way out here. It’s so far! I know this is going to be hard for me even if I know she still has one more year of high school. It goes way too fast. I told her today that even if I moan and complain about Boston being so far away, I will happily shuttle her to wherever she decides to go.
She has a tour set up at Boston College and at Boston University. Today we just drove around the campus and the surrounding area. Man this is a beautiful area around this school. Mack said she wants to live in every house we passed.
After looking around and grabbing some lunch, Brian drove us down town to find out hotel, The Bostonian. The hotel drop off coincided with the rental car drop off. It’s always a bit nerve wracking in a busy city. The girls and I just waited at the hotel rather than try to maneuver the luggage down the streets. Once checked in, we found our room and relaxed for about 20 minutes before getting shoes on again to trek around the area. We hit some shops and after eating lunch so late, had a hard time thinking of dinner. Just wandered. Not a super exciting day.
Not sure what’s on tap for tomorrow aside from a college tour and crying about it.
