The Met and Complainy Pants

The rain came today. Not much. Just a drizzle. I bought the world's smallest umbrella and we set off a little later than we were supposed to for our 10:00 tickets for The Met. Our show last night started at 9:00 so we didn't get to bed until late. Those darn blackout curtains. I woke the family after I showered at 8:00. Then a race to the train, to Zucker's for a bagel, and then a hike through Central Park in the drizzle looking for the museum. It was a nice walk even if a bit wet. I love Central Park so much. I said to Fiona that if we lived here I would spend so much time in the park. She replied with how people who visit Hawaii say they would spend so much time at the beach. Then life gets in the way.  Ha.

The Met is amazing. There is something really special about standing in front of a piece done by Picasso, Rembrandt, Klee, van Gogh, Monet, and so many others.

I am a Klimt fan and today when I showed this to Mack, she told me it's exactly what "the white lady" looked like. She was visited by a white lady at the Kukuiolono Golf course when she was about 3. A white lady who looked like a "flag" told her to "go back".  Scared me for a long time.  Funny to hear her bring it up again like this. Fi and I exchanged quiet glances...

In the photo above you can see Mack on her phone.  She was all done at the Met after about an hour.  She enjoyed taking pictures of works by artists she recognized and then, she didn't.  She told me how she hated everything else and just wanted to be done.  She walked from room to room to the bench inside to sit on her phone while we enjoyed the museum.  Well, I tried to enjoy it through the complaining.

After The Met, we did a very long stroll through the park over to the other side. We actually walked from the museum back to our hotel.  It took a couple hours it seems.  Mom was a little done with the smallest in the family by the end of this walk. Dad could see mom was losing it.

Grabbed a slice of Ray's pizza after emerging from the park and back into the craziness. Exhausted, we returned to our hotel to lie in bed for a while before figuring out what we would do in the evening.  My friend Heather gave us some great ideas, and sadly no one was up for anything.  We almost headed back to Eataly in the Flatiron District but...the day sucked the life out of 2/4 of us. After Ray's I wasn't even hungry any way. We ended up near Rockefeller Plaza snooping H&M and the Nike store. Then dinner to go from a market and ate in our room. We've got packing to do so this seemed fine with everyone.
Tomorrow we have an early departure.  We rented a car and will drive from here to Massachusetts to catch a ferry to Martha's Vineyard for a couple of days. A nor'easter came in last time we were there.  We are hoping for a do-over on weather. Forecast looks good!
